Goodbye wisdom teeth.

Tomorrow is the day I have been dreading for months - my wisdom teeth surgery. I will enter the oral surgeon's office at 8am and leave approximately an hour later missing four of my wisest teeth. I am not happy about this. It would be one thing if my wisdom teeth were causing me horrific pain but they are in fact not. At least not at the moment. Essentially I am wasting a day off, giving the dentist hundreds of dollars, and having a miserable weekend all for something that isn't even causing me pain now but could in the future. I know, I know, I'm being dramatic. Everyone has said its nothing to get worked up about but I can't help it. Surgery is surgery. Oh well, I suppose it must be done. It's time to get it over with! Any words of wisdom from people who've "been-there-done-that" with this whole wisdom teeth thing?

Knowing of my impending wisdom teeth removal, one of my friends sent me this video below. It is so hilarious! I doubt the meds will affect me quite as much as they did for this little guy but if they do I definitely want Jake to take a video of it.

yes, my words of wisdom are, don't do it! It's a needless procedure that is a quick money-maker for doctors. haha. I know, not what you wanted to hear. It should be a pretty quick recovery though!

I only had one of my wisdom teeth removed (long story), and they just popped it right out at Willowbrook. Sounds like you're in for a bit more. Take the meds they give you and let Jake take care of you!

P.S. Did you change the settings on your blog? I normally follow you on google reader and the last post that popped up as new was for Monday. I wanted to show someone the crappy commercials you had posted a while ago and when I clicked on the blog, saw that you had three new posts I hadn't seen. Weird! Could be a google glitch.

Words of wisdom: DON'T eat anything BUT ice cream, yogurt, etc w/in the first day. If you try eating solid food (even pureed), you WILL throw up! I freak out when I go anywhere medical, and somehow I was able to manage this, so I think you will be able to handle it with much grace. :)

My advice would be to take it easy the first day and to take the meds when you're supposed to, even if you're not in pain, because the second day you'll definitely feel it... Also I would recommend eating things you don't have to chew, my favorite was applesauce and chocolate pudding.... and the most important thing is to not stress out too much and to be calm before going in, I hope that it goes well for you tomorrow....

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Mel- Oh I wish I could just cancel! But the xrays show my wisdom teeth are going to come in sideways and so eventually they will cause me pain. Gotta get it over with!

Angela- I also go to Willowbrook! But they had to send me somewhere else for the surgery because none of mine are in all the way so they can't pull them. Oh and I don't think anything has changed with my blog...probably just Google.

Mar- Thanks for the info! I'm a bit scared of throwing up already because I tend to be very sensitive to meds and they are prescribing vicodin (yikes!) we'll see how it goes.

Rochelle- Thanks for the food recommendations. Those are 2 of my favorites anyways so that will be great! As far as anxiety, the doctor is having me take a Valium pill before I even go in (which seems crazy to me) but its good because I am very nervous about getting the IV (I have a total needle phobia). Anyways I should be calm, drowsy and loopy before even leaving for the doctor haha

It's really not that bad. You are strong and will be just fine. My advice is to have the bed ready for when you come home because I slept for the first few days almost all day. Pudding was amazing and advil as opposed to Vicodin was much better. Vicodin is what made me sleepy and feel loopy so it was fine for the first few days during the major healing but after that I switched. Again, it wasn't that bad and I was nervous about it too. Good luck my dear, you'll be just fine. :)

I hope that the surgery went well and that you're resting up! I'm praying that you're not experiencing any pain!
